Dr. Barbara Brunworth is Director of Lutheran Counselor Services, Inc. which serves the Dallas area. She has practiced as a therapist for individuals, couples and families in the Dallas area for 28 years.

She has been a student and teacher throughout her adult life and very intentionally measures the secular understanding of human thoughts, feelings, and behavior against Scripture.

Dr. Brunworth did undergraduate work at Concordia, River Forest, IL. And Concordia, Seward, NE. She received a B.S. in elementary education and in addition a secondary teaching certificate from Concordia Teachers College (now Concordia University) in Nebraska. She has taught Kindergarten level through college. Her Master’s degree is in Human Development and Family from the University of Nebraska- Lincoln. Her Doctorate is also from UNL in Marriage and Family Counseling and Adult and Continuing Education.

She teaches classes on parenting, relationships, life stages, and mental health issues for church groups, and educator and clergy conferences. She leads women’s and pastor’s wives’ retreats. She is co-founder of the Women in Union with Christ Conference held in the Dallas/Ft Worth area for the past eleven years. She is currently serving on the LCMS Texas District’s Committee for Ministerial Health.

She has had articles published in the Lutheran Witness, the LWML Quarterly, Lutheran Hour Ministry’s Family Connection, and on the LCMS Congregational Services Website. She wrote the study guide for the CPH video “Worth It” for teens, and has served as advisor for CPH video for church lay leaders and elders on hospital visitation. Her latest effort was “Whole Person Health from a Scriptural Perspective” Bible Study distributed by Julie Zerson, WPH Parish Nurse Program. Most recently she wrote a paper for the LCMS Commission of Theology and Church Relations from the social psychological perspective on “Men and Women in the Contemporary Culture: The Intersection of Theology and the Social Services”.

Dr. Brunworth is married to Dr. Gerald Brunworth, Headmaster Emeritus Dallas Lutheran High School for 22 years. She experiences great joy in her role as wife and feels very blessed that their shared parenting of two boys and two girls has resulted in four children they very much like as adults. They have also been blessed with six beautiful, intelligent, talented, and fun grandchildren.
