Bonnie Treloar earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Behavioral Sciences at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and her Master of Arts degree in Learning Disabilities from Cardinal Stritch College in Milwaukee, WI. She then embarked upon a 31-year teaching career in special education in the Cedarburg, WI public schools with 27 of those years being at Webster Middle School. While there, she had the opportunity to initiate a new special education service delivery model and followed through on three phases of this leadership in the subsequent six years. In the last eight years of her tenure, she mentored first-year teachers and teachers new to the district and served on three district level committees and eight building level committees. In June, 2006, following her retirement, she became a DPI-certified PDP team member.

Her church home for the past twenty-seven years has been First Immanuel Lutheran in Cedarburg where she has enjoyed many volunteer activities such as Share-a-Meal, LWML Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, Membership on the FIL Church Council, Chair of the Board of Christian Growth, and, most recently, as part of a team investigating a new governance at FIL. She has recently been commissioned as a Stephen Minister.

In May, 2007, she and her husband, Bill will celebrate their 30th anniversary. He is the owner of a small business, KAMP SYNERGY, INC. in Milwaukee which designs, manufactures, and installs integrated systems for water controls. Their son, Andrew, is attending Humboldt State University in Northern California surrounded by the ocean, stately redwoods, and rain forests. All three of them enjoy traveling, hiking, reading, jazz, and family.
