The 4th annual Southwest Florida WLI luncheon was held February 6, 2009 at the beautiful, luxurious Club Mediterra in Naples. Joyce Heffernan, Director of Family Ministries at Marco Lutheran Church opened the luncheon with an inspiring devotion. Terry Kieschnick, keynote speaker, delighted the one hundred twelve ladies with her presentation, “Love Your Shoes.” WLI Director, Dr. Mary Hilgendorf, followed with an enthusiastic update of WLI’s history, mission, and events before giving sharing her vision for the future which she entitled, “These Shoes are Made for Walkin.” To the delight of everyone, many congregations and Midwestern states were represented at the luncheon hosted by Lyla Buuck. One lady commented, “I’ll look at each pair of my shoes differently from now on.” “All three speakers were wonderful,” was a common refrain among those attending as was, “Please keep me on the mailing list for next year.” We will look forward to seeing everyone next year in addition to new friends. Hopefully you’ll be there, too.
